The meeting of two voices rediscovers musicality, familiarity, human warmth, and the joy of being together. The program is about the creation of a dramaturgy from Handel's English arias. It shares with listeners the various human emotions that are stirred up as a man and a woman go through the agony of love. This has been the principle of opera since the beginning of time. Even the non-contextuality of a given work can produce amazing effects, and there can be no disputing the beauty and quality of the chosen productions. The round, warm, powerful voice of countertenor Istin Davis, who is such a regular guest at major opera houses such as La Scala and the Met, with the heavenly-voiced baroque mezzo-soprano Léa Desendre, whose voice is flexible and agile, reads its context deeply, hysterically mad, angelically clear, and sadness, is expressed with aplomb. The first piece, \"O Eternal Source of Divine Light,\" is a cross between countertenor and trumpet, but the beautiful phrasing is further enhanced by Léa Desandre's singing of the trumpet part with lyrics. The baroque ensemble Jupiterre, led by Thomas Dunford, is small for this recording of Handel's oratorio with about 10 players, but the different parts of the instrumentation are clearly defined and the performance is supple and airy.A small jam-session improvisation by Dunford and others is added at the end of the album as a finishing touch to an album characterized by joy, relaxation, and harmony.
