He has been associated with many musicians, including Gershwin, Copland, Bartok, and Stokowski, and his works have been performed by major orchestras around the country. He also founded the Composition Department at the University of Washington, where he has been a professor for over 40 years. This album contains his string quartets, which he says he \"preferred to any other form\": Nos. 1 and 2, written in his 30s; No. 3, written in 1950, when he was in his prime, on the theme of \"the passage of time\"; and No. 4, also in 1950, which he completed in just four days from material he had long been developing. The fourth piece, also written in 1950, was completed in just four days from a long-awaited piece. All are easy to listen to, combining influences of Romanticism and Native American music. Performed by the Formosa Quartet, which actively introduces contemporary music.\n\nNaxos Japan","brand":"Orchid Classics","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51389474767137,"sku":"4589538823108","price":75.0,"currency_code":"PLN","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538823108.jpg?v=1750174966","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-pl\/products\/4589538823108","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
