His works show the influence of French Impressionism. The \"Fantastic Cadenza\" on the album is a work that drifts between dream and madness, reminiscent of Scriabin. The \"Pastorale\" and \"Old Song\" were originally written for woodwinds, but here they are performed on the violin. His son, Alexandre, received musical instruction from his father, Nikolai, and became friends with the French Six in Paris, where he moved with his family, and later became interested in Asian folk songs. The \"Violin Sonata in C minor\" on this album was recently discovered in the archives of the Paul Sacher Foundation in Basel and is performed in a new edition edited by Giorgio Koukl. The \"Trio Concertante\" is Alexandre's own arrangement for piano trio of the Trio Concerto composed in 1930.The other two pieces on the album are \"Arabesque\" and \"Piano Trio.\" Pianist Giorgio Koukl, who has recorded all of Alexandre's piano works for the GRAND PIANO label, also plays with great stability on this album. Violinist Kreidi Sahachi is the first concertmaster of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich.
