Born in 1970, Leoson entered the Royal College of Music in Stockholm at the age of 15, and after graduating four years later in 1989, he has performed as a soloist and orchestra player in Sweden and abroad. He is currently a professor at the Hochschulzentrum am Horn in Weimar.
