Kurt Sanderling, conductor emeritus of the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra, passed away in 2011 at the age of 98. In 1990, he made his last visit to Japan as a guest conductor with the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra. At that time, the maestro gave three concerts, but this was his last concert in both name and reality. Haydn is a masterpiece that the maestro loved, and I take my hat off to him for his splendid appearance. The Bra 1, his 18th piece, was a big performance that moved slowly along at a leisurely tempo.
