Description:
Kazuhito Yamashita, one of Japan's leading classical guitarists, has yet to break the record he set at the age of 16 as the youngest ever winner of the world's three major guitar competitions: Ramirez (Spain), Alessandria (Italy), and Paris (France). Yamashita released his first album with RCA in 1978 at the age of 17, and has released nearly 90 albums to date. The Brazilian composer Villa-Lobos and the Mexican composer Ponce produced important guitar works in the first half of the 20th century. Yamashita has been performing these works from the very beginning. This selection is centered on two albums recorded in 1994 and 1995 by the famous producer Ralph Mace, and also includes early recordings to give you a taste of the strong personalities of these two composers.
