Yoshio Unno was a leading figure in the Japanese violin world in the second half of the 20th century. This is Unno's first re-recording in 13 years since his substantial debut recording with the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra and Schmidt-Isserstedt in 1967 (not yet available on CD). The recording is a masterful performance by Unno in his 40s, who sang passionately at an imposingly slow tempo. The conductor is Russian master Evgeny Svetlanov. This is the world's first CD release.
