A great listening experience! Excellent young pianist! Hans H. Soo a.k.a. Seo Hyunmin's excellent live performance! This is the first CD by Seo Hyun-min, who is already attracting attention as an extremely talented young pianist. After studying in Korea, he went to New York to study at the Mannes College of Music. Since then, he has won awards at various competitions around the world. In Japan, he won the 2nd prize in the piano section of the 5th Sendai International Music Competition in 2013, which was much talked about. 1st prize in the Isang Yun International Competition in Korea in 2016. In 2016, he won the first prize at the Isang Yun International Competition in Korea, and in 2018, he was awarded the German International Piano Prize. When he performs internationally, he goes by the name Hans H. Suh, which is also the name on this CD. The performances are excellent. For example, in Liszt's Piano Sonata, he does not play in a showy and flamboyant manner, but rather, he seems to be playing in an unobtrusive manner, with slight swaying and pause, control of chords, restraint and release, all superbly crafted and very rewarding. The intelligent and rational playing technique and musicality, the result of his long training in the U.S., are combined with the style he has acquired since becoming active in Germany and other European countries.He will undoubtedly become a great pianist.
