Symphonies No. 35 \"Haffner\" and No. 36 \"Linz\" (1782 and 1783, respectively) were written when Mozart was establishing his name as an opera composer. Emelianichev participated in Mozart's opera projects as a bass continuo player at Musica Eterna, and he knows Mozart's operatic music inside and out. Here, too, he captures the dramatic momentum and freshness of the music with the energy and sophistication that only Emelianichev can. The orchestra members of Il Pomo d'Oro respond with a tone as intense as if the work had been created right here and now.\n\nSandwiched between the two symphonies is the Violin Concerto No. 3. The soloist is Iren Pritchen, who is well known for his duo with Emelianichev and has been called \"the greatest genius since Oistrakh. He won the first prize at the 2014 Ron-Thibault International Competition, and has received brilliant results in numerous other international competitions. The Violin Concerto No. 3 was written in 1775, when Mozart was 19 years old. The soloist is given a more important and varied role than in previous concertos, while the orchestra goes beyond mere accompaniment and consists of two oboes (replaced by two flutes in the second movement), two horns, and strings, although on a modest scale.\n\nEmelianichev is increasingly active, and his contract with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra has been extended through at least 2028, making him a force to be reckoned with around the world.
