Christophe Rousset's Loirée is naturally thought of as a clavesan piece, but this new album is a collection of orchestral pieces. This is an intriguing album of suites from his plays, conducted by his handler Les Talents Lilique, and with the exception of \"Pilus,\" all of the pieces are world premiere recordings. Rousset's 1993 release on the Oiseaux Reels label of a disc of Rohrleier's Klavsin pieces was highly acclaimed as a masterpiece, and in 2009 he released a new recording on the ambroisie label that attracted a lot of attention. Although harpsichord pieces are well-known, orchestral works are rare, and this disc will lead to the rediscovery of a new aspect of Royer's music. The orchestral numbers of dramatic music, such as dances, marches, and yells, reveal Rohrweiler's lyricism and sense of refinement. It is ideal to hear Rousset conduct the original \"Zayd\" from the famous \"Scythian March\" on the harpsichord, as well as the \"Yale with Rondeau for the Turks\". The sensitivity and interpretation, including the harpsichord-like writing style found in Royer's orchestral pieces, could not be better suited than Rousset's. All of the pieces are fascinating and highly enjoyable to listen to. Rousset's conducting and Les Talents Lilique also reproduce Royer's personality and sense of drama with remarkable depth and stability, and make us rediscover the charm of his orchestral music.
