The recordings (many of them re-recordings) by Kraft, who was a specialist and scholar of the New Viennese School of Music, attracted a lot of attention from enthusiasts. The sixth release in the series on Naxos features the Chamber Symphony No. 1, especially in a small ensemble, and the Clown, with Berg specialist Anja Silja (the ensemble also includes Charles Nydick and former Tassi member Fred Shelley). Arnold Schoenberg sought to compose music that avoided traditional tonal expression, and gradually broke away from tonalism. The Heart's Frown is a small piece for high soprano and what might be called a low ensemble. It is a fine example of Schoenberg's collaboration with his friend, the avant-garde painter Kandinsky. One of Schoenberg's most famous works, \"Clown Haunted by the Moon\" marks a return to counterpoint. The \"Four Orchestral Romances\" strike a balance between singing traditional texts and innovative instrumentation. The thrust of the early \"Chamber Symphony\" is reminiscent of Beethoven's music.　［Comment courtesy of I.V.
