Even now, more than 30 years after his death, Karl Böhm still has many fans in Japan. Many of his performances with the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, and London Symphony Orchestra have been released, and the SWR in Stuttgart has also preserved a considerable amount of his performances, which are now being reissued together from the original tapes. The repertoire includes Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Bruckner, Dvorak.... CD1 is the same as 93.014 on the SWR label (not newly remastered), but the rest of the recordings are on CD for the first time from the original tapes. The recordings range from 1951 to 1979, the last year of Böhm's life, but the performances are all powerful and solidly formed, as is typical of Böhm, with no slackening. The recordings of special concerts such as the \"Ninth,\" which celebrates the bicentennial of the birth of Schiller, the poet born near Stuttgart, are especially valuable. The master of Bruckner's Seventh was told by the broadcaster that the first two bars are missing. The performance itself is a fine one, as is typical of Böhm, although it begins with the first theme out of the blue. The names of the orchestras in European languages are the names used at the time of the performance.
