Since the days of vinyl recordings, Dovienne's works have often been included in classical concerto collections for wind instruments, but there have been only a few recordings of his works on ancient instruments. This recording vividly demonstrates the true nature of his use of sound, making the most of the mechanisms of each instrument, and many of the tracks are reminiscent of the excitement of his contemporaries.
