The music is composed from various works by Massenet, who also composed an opera based on the same story, and newly orchestrated by Martin Yates, resulting in a very refined and unified work. The classical costumes, the simple contrast between the elegant Paris and the cold Louisiana swamps where Manon and De Grieve fled to in America, the moving pas de deux in Act III by the popular duo of Sarah Lam and Vadim Muntagirov, and our own Ryoichi Hirano as Lescaut in the brothel in Act II are all very refined and unified.
