CITY" is now being released in analog format in response to numerous requests! CITY. New York, Chicago, Rio, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Seoul, Taipei, Tokyo. He stands, walks, listens, and plays the piano on each street corner. He stands quietly, somewhere between the boundary of music and non-music, between the sound of music and the noise, waiting for someone to find him. This is music dedicated to such a lovely city. The music on this album is a collage of field recordings of noises (environmental sounds) from various cities, which he himself made on his tranquil and sometimes dramatic piano. The sound of horns flying over Times Square in New York City, the sound of drills drilling through huge buildings in downtown Chicago, the sound of shoes on cobblestones in the Alfama district of Lisbon, river waves in the Tagus, the announcement of arriving flights at Schiphol Airport echoing through the air, and copper wind chimes quietly swaying in the eaves of Insadong...these are just a few of the sounds that Ryuta has recorded in the field. The sound of shoes on the cobblestones of the Alfama district, the waves of the Tagus River, the announcement of arriving flights at Schiphol Airport, the copper wind chimes gently swaying in the eaves of Insadong. The soundscapes of these different locations are connected one after another like a film montage, layered on top of each other, or a single urban noise is featured and placed as the "figure" or "ground" of the music, making for a truly diverse and experimental collage. The noises (environmental sounds) used in this work were collected through the filter of his ears, and are not necessarily the only sounds that symbolize and signify the city. It may be difficult to categorize this work simply as "environmental music" or "soundscape," as it also includes a solo piano piece with a city name as its title. Nor is it as esoteric as some contemporary music. Although experimental, the music is tranquil, poetic, and sometimes pop, and does not betray his previous style.

Tracklisting:

1.New York
2.Chicago
3.Rio
4.Tokyo
5.Amsterdam
6.Somewhere

Iwamura+Ryuta" title="Iwamura Ryuta">Iwamura Ryuta
