This challenging album contains only unaccompanied works for historical cello and viola da gamba. The wide range of expression realized by a single performer can be fully appreciated. Profile Tomofumi Shimane Born in Tokyo in 1989. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Faculty of Music, Department of Instrumental Music, Cello Course, and completed the Master's Course in Cello at Tokyo University of the Arts. He completed his master's degree in cello at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.He completed his studies in Baroque cello and viola da gamba at Conservatoire Municipal Erik Satie (Conservatoire Erik Satie, Paris 7). As of 2019, he is currently pursuing research on \"reading and playing techniques in cello works of the 18th and 19th centuries\" in the doctoral program of the Cello Department at Tokyo University of the Arts. She pursues the performance styles and possibilities of the time when the pieces were written, and strives to present the results of her research in her own concerts and lectures. He received the Doseikai Prize and the Acanthus Music Prize of the Graduate School at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. She was selected to perform A. Dvořák's cello concerto as a soloist with orchestra in the \"Sogakudo Morning Concert,\" a concerto performance with the Geidai Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as in the Sogakudo Chamber Music Subscription Concert and the \"Brakhage Series, II\" by composer Gregoire Lorrieu. -(2012) by composer Grégoire Lorrieux. In France, she was selected for the Concert Jeunes Talents at the Soubise Palace (now the French Museum of History), where she gave a solo recital. She has performed at the Royal Chapel of Versailles, Chartres Church, Oratoire de Louvre, and other churches and castles throughout France. In December 2017, he performed live on NHK's \"La La La La! Classics\" on NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) in December 2017, where he also provided commentary on ancient music performance. She returned to Japan in August 2017 and gave her debut recital at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan in December of the same year. She received high acclaim from music magazines. He has studied cello with Philippe Muller, Xavier Gagnepin, Fumiaki Kono, Shohei Kamimori, and Yoshihiko Terada; baroque cello with Anner Bylsma, Emmanuel Balsa, and Hidemi Suzuki; viola da gamba with Christine Prübou, Emmanuel Balsa, and Hiroshi Fukuzawa. He also studied counterpoint and orchestration.
