Bart Nessan, a young Belgian conductor and old-time keyboardist born in 1980, is the principal organist at St. Gillis Church in Bruges and a chamber musician at the Brussels Conservatory. The album celebrates the 10th anniversary of \"Capriola di Gioia,\" a period ensemble founded in 2007 by the couple Dieltiens and Nessan, with a collection of Italian cantatas accompanied by the clavi organ (clavi organum), an instrument combining the harpsichord and organ. (Heinichen was a German composer, but this cantata is included on this album because it was written in the Italian style during his stay in Italy.)
