A recording of the commemorative concert will be released by Universal Music Australia on the Deutsche Grammophon label. Simone Young, the recently appointed principal conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, which makes this hall its home, joined the orchestra for a performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 2 \"Resurrection\" and William Burton's new composition \"Of the Earth. Young is one of the leading conductors of our time, highly acclaimed in opera houses and concert halls around the world. This will be the first time an Australian orchestra appears on the Deutsche Grammophon label.Mahler's magnificent \"Resurrection\" features 100 members of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, plus 190 members of the Sydney Philharmonic Chorus and star artists including renowned Australian soprano Nicole Kerr and mezzo-soprano Deborah Humble. Aboriginal composer Barton's piece is a world premiere and features the Kondwana Aboriginal Children's Choir and the Sydney Children's Choir. Percussion instruments made from the floorboards of the old concert hall were used.\n\n\n\nIt was a very special experience to perform my first concert as Principal Conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra on the historic occasion of the reopening of the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall. The improved acoustics and new clarity and warmth of sound allowed the music to resonate in ways I could not have imagined before. I was thrilled to conduct works that speak deeply to the human heart, Mahler's Symphony No. 2, \"Resurrection,\" and William Burton's \"Of the Earth,\" which beautifully captures the mood of this festive occasion.The release of this recording on Deutsche Grammophon is not only a historic record of the reopening of the orchestra's iconic concert hall, but also a milestone for myself and the orchestra as the first recording on the prestigious label.\n\nThis is the sound of a generation, for the next 100 years.\n\n'Performances of this symphony are always special events. Young and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra captured both the wide range of emotions and the complex and intricate music of this huge symphonic fresco in a magnificent performance.\n\nUniversal Music\/IMS\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Dg Deutsche Grammophon","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51313133256993,"sku":"28948774845","price":3400.0,"currency_code":"PHP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/28948774845.jpg?v=1748337314","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-ph\/products\/28948774845","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
