Bass-baritone Matthias Goerne sings a superb solo in Symphony No. 13, \"Babi Yar\".\n\n\n\nShostakovich died on August 9, 1975, and over the past 50 years his reputation has only grown, and he is recognized as one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. And people continue to be interested in Shostakovich's relationship with the Soviet regime. Was he a loyal \"servant\" or a bitter and secretive dissident? But this question seems misplaced for Nelsons, who grew up in Latvia, experienced the Soviet system firsthand, and devoted much of his career to studying and conducting Shostakovich's music.Nelsons said, \"The great thing about his music is that it transcends politics. It speaks to people whether they know the times he lived in or not,\" Nelsons said.\n\n\n\n(UNIVERSAL MUSIC\/IMS)\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Dgg (Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft)","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50865339302177,"sku":"28948666492","price":6400.0,"currency_code":"PHP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/28948666492.jpg?v=1742719278","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-ph\/products\/28948666492","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
