He moved around Detroit, Michigan, and Tampa, Florida, but eventually settled in Los Angeles, where he continued to play as one of the few black saxophonists on the West Coast, along with Buddy Collette and Harold Land. A long-lived player, he continued to make ambitious recordings well into this century, including this one-horn quartet work recorded for Xanadu during a visit to New York in 1976, featuring the backing trio of Duke Jordan, Larry Ridley, and Freddie Waits. The backing trio consists of Duke Jordan, Larry Ridley, and Freddie Waits. This recording was made just after Teddy Edwards' visit to Japan as a member of the Milt Jackson-Ray Brown Quintet, so I can picture his heroic appearance at that time. His tenor may lack a strong personality, but his smooth, flowing phrasing is appealing. This album is the perfect way to experience it.

Tracklisting:

1.Sunset Eyes
2.That Old Black Magic
3.Mean to Me
4.Imagination
5.One on One
6.Stella by Starlight
