Description:
Isabelle Faust "SOLO" The world's greatest violinist, Isabelle Faust, whose astonishing concentration is made even more vivid and close by her meticulous DSD mastering. The new unaccompanied score is a profoundly new experience. The tone is soft and the music breathes softly through each phrase, but the astonishing concentration of the performance gives it an extraordinary aura, even uncanny. The overwhelming recording, which seems to vividly capture not only Faust's music but also her attitude toward music, has been meticulously mastered in DSD under the technical supervision of Ikuo Tsunoda. The mastering was done using King Sekiguchidai Studio's own high-quality sound equipment, and a MUTEC REF10 SE120 master clock generator. It is as if you can hear Faust's spirit, concentration, breathing, and even the way his arms move the air. The program consisted of unaccompanied violin works from the late Baroque period. The first piece by Matteis (his son) is about three and a half minutes long.Faust's performance begins quietly, but gradually the listener is drawn into the world of this piece, which is as unnervingly concentrated as Bach's chaconne, as if he were in bondage. Nicolas Matteis (his son) was recorded to have played Corelli's sonatas with great elegance at the time, suggesting that he was a player with both great technique and musicality (he served at the Habsburg court, and his surviving works are mostly ballet music rather than violin works). Pisendel was Germany's finest violinist in the service of the Dresden court orchestra. He is also noted for his visits to Italy, where he studied with and befriended Vivaldi. His sonatas are thought to have influenced Bach. Guillemain was a violinist and composer in the service of Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour, and at the time he was well known and well paid. However, he was a profligate spender, and in his later years he was in debt and drank to excess, leading to a life of turmoil. The beautiful ornamental melodies in this series of dance-like pieces, op. 8, are very attractive. Wilsmeyer was born in Salzburg and played in Biber's orchestra. This work is included in his only published score, and although there are indications on the cover of the score that he intended the work to be accompanied by a basso continuo, only the solo part is currently extant. The work also incorporates Biber's scordatura technique. Biber's Passacaglia, included at the end of the disc, is one of the finest unaccompanied violin works. Faust's music is one of the finest unaccompanied violin works on the disc. The ornamentation, which intensifies in intensity as if driven by something, never loses any of its beauty, and the air woven by the sequence of sounds evokes a mysterious realm beyond human understanding.
