The Broadway show *American Utopia*, based on his 2018 album, was adapted into a film directed by Spike Lee and released in 2020, generating massive buzz worldwide. This new album, released by Byrne in 2025 as his first project since signing with Matador Records, brings together a lineup of longtime and new collaborators. Featuring an all-star lineup of guests—including St. Vincent, with whom he collaborated on the 2012 album *Love This Giant*; Paramore’s Hayley Williams; *The Smile*’s drummer, Tom Skinner of The Smile, and percussionist Mauro Refosco—who also appeared on *American Utopia*—are among the star-studded lineup of guests.
