Enrico Gatti is a baroque violin prodigy who has produced countless masterpieces with deep respect for the baroque music of his native Italy. After Stradella, Vivaldi, and Boccherini, the latest release from Spain's Glossa is the second Vivaldi release! Following the "Sonatas Op.2" (GCD921202), dedicated to King Frederik IV of Denmark, Gatti & Ensemble Aurora featured the "Trio Sonatas Op.2," composed of 12 pieces, dedicated to Count Annibale Gambara, a Venetian noble at the time, and published in Venice in 1705. Trio Sonatas, Op. 1.The complete Trio Sonatas Op.1, which includes "Trio Sonata No. 12 in D minor, La Follia," one of Vivaldi's masterpieces, as the twelfth and final piece in the collection, is rare, and it is not difficult to imagine that this recording by Gatti will shine as a new definitive recording. Gatti's deep commitment to the selection of music is also evident in his recording of Tartini's "The Devil's Trill," which he dared to leave out of the recording.
