Description:
Yumiko Morioka's only ethnic music project in 1990 is now on vinyl for the first time. Another remarkable title from METRON RECORDS, well-known for releases by Mei Ding, 7FO, and others! This is the first vinyl release of "Myos," the only work by pianist/composer Yumiko Morioka's project, SYNERGETIC VOICE ORCHESTRA, released in 1990, which was also reissued on the same label. In 1989, a group of street musicians and semi-professional musicians were assembled and started this project, which aimed to fuse traditional Indian, Ethiopian, Malian, Korean, and Chinese folk music with traditional Okinawan music. Many of the musicians were unable to read music, and Yumiko, who came from a classical background, had a hard time. However, the work was produced by adopting the "Synergetics Principle" of Buckminster Fuller, an American architect and thinker who was called a modern-day Leonardo da Vinci. The album is full of diversity, creativity, and transparency, with the lush piano seen on "RESONANCE" as well as a variety of percussion and acoustic instrumentals! This is the first vinyl release of this hidden masterpiece, a must-have for fans of Japanese ambient/new age music, including Midori Takada and Hiroshi Yoshimura.
