This is a duo album by two female artists who are specialists in ancient music, but are also active in the fields of contemporary music and improvisation.\n\n\n\nThe title \"Nova Atlantis\" comes from the unfinished utopian novel \"New Atlantis\" published by philosopher Francis Bacon in 1626.The concept is to reproduce the \"sound house\" (house of sound), a facility of the future that generates and imitates all kinds of sounds and researches acoustics, using modern technology and ancient musical instruments.\n\n\n\nThe works of Baroque masters such as Biber, Buxtehude, and Frescobaldi will be performed live on gut strings and harpsichord, with electronics such as effectors and modular synths intervening to add unpredictable \"distortion\" and \"color\". It is an ambient and meditative new baroque soundscape, a modern interpretation of the free improvisation style of the baroque era called \"stills fantastiques\" (fantasy style).\n\n\n\nMiako Klein -- Miako Klein is a musician based in Berlin. Classically trained in recorder and violin, she has performed with leading ancient and contemporary music groups such as Ensemble Modern and Il Pomo d'Oro. He is also known as an improviser who straddles the border between ancient and experimental music.\n\nJia Lim -- Jia Lim has an unusual background, having played trumpet and piano before becoming a harpsichordist.
