The 77th collection features the piano concertos by Hans Bronsart and Anton Wuerspruch, two German musicians who studied under Liszt! Hans Bronsart von Schellendorf (1830-1913) was one of the founders of the New Weimar Society, president of the All-German Music Society, director of theaters in Hanover and Weimar, and a composer, pianist and conductor who was friends with Bülow, Wagner, Brahms and others. Anton Uerspruch (Urschpruch) (1850-1907) was a composer, pianist, and teacher who studied composition with Joachim Raff and piano with Liszt, and taught at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt. Both are piano concertos that are too good to be left buried in history, with their full orchestration interwoven with the pianist's high technique.The soloist will be Emmanuelle Despat, a new generation French pianist making her Hyperion debut, who has attracted attention in the U.K. from BBC Radio 3, Medici TV, and other media outlets.
