To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Bayreuth Festival in 2026, the audio has been newly converted to high-resolution from the original analog master tapes in Germany specifically for this release, and mastered at the Emil Berliner Studios to deliver a completely refreshed sound quality. This true masterpiece, which has won the prestigious Record Academy Award, is now being reissued with bilingual lyrics.\n\nBöhm seems to have held this work in particularly high regard; in fact, “Tristan” was the very piece he conducted for his 1962 debut at Bayreuth, and he went on to stage it for seven consecutive seasons through 1970 (This is the highest number of productions among all the works he staged at Bayreuth.
