This 2014 production at the Royal Opera House effectively uses trendy projection mapping to showcase his prized \"list of women\" on the walls. The images occasionally express his sentiments, mourning with him when he is sad and projecting his distorted world when he is drunk. Mariusz Kwiechen, who sings Don Giovanni, is a singer who has earned a reputation as one of the best \"Don Giovanni\" singers of his day, and here again he convincingly represents the image of Don Giovanni.Some might think he could be a bit more of a jerk, but director Holten says that in Don Giovanni's time, uninhibited life was repressed to a dark place, and it appears that this aspect is played out in unseen parts of the stage. Again, Esposito's performance as Leporello is superb. Esposito's comic performance is unparalleled. The female singers are also excellent, with Veronique Jans, a quiet Veronique Jans, a powerful Marlene Byström, and a cute Elizabeth Watts, the best singers of the moment.
