As a composer himself, he had a wide repertoire of music, and he often surprised his audiences with works that were not often performed. The two works on this album were both unearthed from the orchestra's archives and remastered. Both are very listenable. The Requiem, composed between 1971 and 1972, just before Martin's death, is a work that expresses \"a clear intention to accept death and reconciliation,\" with a striking contrast between the intense Dies irae and the beautiful In paradisum, and a near-atonal music with hints of Bach, Schoenberg, and Bartók. The music is almost atonal, with a hint of Bach, Schoenberg, and Bartók. Janacek's \"The Lord's Prayer,\" on the other hand, is a 15-minute work inspired by the Polish painter Juszef Kuszcz-Menzina's religious painting \"The Targumen on the Mount. Janacek composed it as a small cantata with piano and harmonium (organ) accompaniment, but revised it in 1906 with harp and organ accompaniment.The expressive tenor soloist here is Heinz Zednik, well-known for his Wagner works.
