While the fundamentals of Arnoncourt's interpretation and beliefs remain the same as in his first recording with period instruments in 1964, he employs virtuoso players who are masterful with period instruments, and reflects in their playing a means of deepening the spiritual bond with Bach, and leaves us in a state of wonder and fresh surprise. This is a masterful performance that astonished us with fresh and surprising impressions.
