Of these, \"Unfinished\" and \"The Great\" were released on GS-2160 (2017) using 19 cm, 2-track tapes, and now all three pieces, including the overture to \"Rosamunde,\" have been reissued from 2-track, 38 cm, open-reel tapes to achieve the best sound quality possible. The three tracks alone are fascinating enough, but we wondered how to handle the large margins, whether to leave them as they are or to use other live recordings as fillers. As a result, we decided to add Schubert's Symphonies No. 2 and No. 3, which were once released on LP (DXM 165\/1973) by Nippon Columbia. These two works are nowadays considered to be conducted by different conductors, not Furtwängler, and there may be some controversy about treating them in the same category. However, DXM 165 is now a rare source, and I decided that it would not be a bad idea to recount the historical facts (the mystery of who conducted it has not yet been solved, apparently). There is a missing piece at the beginning of the 4th movement of No. 2, but it has not been corrected.
