This new album, Wilkins' third for Blue Note and his first in two years, is co-produced by Wilkins and Michel Ndegeocello.The title of the album, which he describes as "like listening to a scene where your mother takes you to the kitchen and teaches you a recipe," is a reference to Daniel Hamm, a boy who was arrested in 1964 for a crime he did not commit and was repeatedly beaten by prison guards but was not treated because he "didn't bleed" (I had to, like, open the bruise up and let some of the bruise (blues) show).
