As a composer, his works range from symphonies to concertos, children's choral works to operas, and have been performed and broadcast more than 300 times in the UK and abroad. This album contains his most famous light music for orchestra, which he conducted himself with the RTE Sinfonietta. The album includes \"Kingston Sketches,\" one of his masterpieces written as the opening theme for a TV program, \"Scenes from the Humber,\" used as background music for a BBC music program, \"Four Little Dances,\" each movement named after one of his children, \"Four Breton Sketches,\" which incorporates scenes of Brittany where he spent family vacations, and \"Four Bretton Sketches,\" which is a piece of music for orchestra. The \"Four Breton Sketches,\" which depicts scenes from his family's vacation in Brittany, are all lively and accessible works.
