At the age of 13, he entered the Vienna Conservatory, where he studied piano and composition under Robert Fuchs. In 1895, he founded an amateur orchestra and became friends with Schoenberg, who joined the orchestra, and Schoenberg later married Zemlinsky's sister Mathilde. They became brothers-in-law. In 1906, Zemlinsky became the first principal conductor of the Vienna Volksoper, and in 1911 he became the first conductor of the Prague German National Theatre. In 1938, he fled to the United States to escape Nazi pressure. However, he was not recognized here and quietly passed away in 1942.Although his works were once disregarded as \"decadent music,\" they have been rapidly reevaluated since the end of the 20th century and are now enjoying a resurgence in popularity, with many of his works being performed. This box contains a series of recordings on the Capriccio label, which played a role in the reappraisal of Zemlinsky's music, from symphonic works to vocal works. The box contains a series of recordings from the famous performance of Eschenbach's \"Lyric Symphony\" to a series of performances by Beaumont, who is also a scholar, and Marucchi, who is highly regarded for his modern and contemporary music, as well as excerpts from operas conducted by Gerd Albrecht, a leading figure in the revival of the Zemlinsky operas, and representative performances of Brahms's works, from his early works that were said to have influenced him, to his unfinished works.
