The Erard piano, with its rich harmonic overtones and clear bass, is characterized by its rich sound, which was indispensable for French salon music of the time. This is an authentic Faure performance.\n\n\n\nCoppée was born in Strasbourg, where his careful music-making and graceful delivery are very appealing. After studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, he won the first prize at the J.S. Bach International Competition at the age of 18, which brought him to the attention of the world. He has since had a successful career, performing as a soloist with conductors such as Eliahu Inbal, Emmanuelle Clivine, Alan Gilbert, and Yutaka Sado.He has had a distinguished career as a chamber musician, earning the trust of Michel Bellof, Augustin Dumay, Victoria Mullova, and Emmanuelle Payu. As a member of the Ysaÿe String Quartet (1995-2000), he has made numerous recordings. He is currently teaching at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, and is further expanding his activities as artistic director of the Zagreb Soloists Ensemble, and is actively releasing music on the audite label.
