Also included is \"Petites Vagues,\" a new work by the album's producer, Christian Bazula. Saying that Ravel's music has been \"a presence that has stayed with me, challenged me, and questioned me\" since he was a child, Azar says, \"In a miraculous way, Ravel has had access to all the colors of sound. Even his relatively delicate piano works contain shadings and energies that could only be found in a complex symphony,\" he writes.The recording was made at the \"Chapel of the sun\" in Siena, Tuscany, Italy, where Azar was so enchanted by the atmosphere and acoustics of the old building that he recalls it as \"a place where I wanted to keep playing even after the audience left.
