Description:

A collection of works by John Mackie, a composer who has attracted the attention of brass band fans around the world, including the popular "Asphalt Cocktail"! An album of works by John Mackie, a composer who has attracted the attention of brass band fans around the world, will be released. The album includes "Jade," which was premiered in Japan, and "Wine Dark Sea," a piece that has been gaining popularity among brass bands nationwide for the past several years. John Mackey's works range from profound to pop, and his music incorporates a wide range of human emotions, with a sound that seems to tear you apart, only to be followed immediately by a beautiful melody that is hard to describe. The music reflects the trivial events of daily life, such as the phenomenal drive of a cab through Manhattan, or a moment of calm before sunset. The main song on the album, "Asphalt Cocktail," is described as follows. The song opens with a rallying cry of "We are here. The biting trombones, the rumbling trumpets, and the cross-rhythm and back-beat driven percussion are tied to memories of when I lived in New York City. Imagine a cab whizzing by between trucks." The thrilling music, full of speed and tension, is intriguing even to brass band fans. Then there is "Dis Cruel Moon," a work derived from his monumental "Wine Dark Sea," and the trumpet concerto "Antique Violence," recorded with New York Philharmonic principal trumpet player Christopher Martin as soloist. The program is filled with the charms of John Mackey's works, including "Antique Violence," a trumpet concerto with New York Philharmonic principal trumpet Christopher Martin as soloist. The performances are by the Dallas Wind Symphony, America's first wind orchestra and the world's finest. The performance could not be more perfect, making this a must-listen for all brass band fans.
