The music reflects the trivial events of daily life, such as the phenomenal drive of a cab through Manhattan, or a moment of calm before sunset. The main song on the album, "Asphalt Cocktail," is described as follows. The song opens with a rallying cry of "We are here.The biting trombones, the rumbling trumpets, and the cross-rhythm and back-beat driven percussion are tied to memories of when I lived in New York City. Imagine a cab whizzing by between trucks." The thrilling music, full of speed and tension, is intriguing even to brass band fans.
