A masterful performance full of the German spirit of yesteryear. New reissue from the original ETERNA analog tape. World's first SACD release! Mastered only in the analog domain and directly converted to DSD! The 11th SACD hybridization of the latest reissue project of ETERNA's original analog tapes in Japan, the latest SACD release of Kurt Sanderling's (1912.9.19-2011.9.18) early session recording of Bruckner's Symphony No. 3, which was made 10 years after his death. This piece was a specialty of Sanderling's, which he conducted many times during his life, and several later live recordings of the piece are available in addition to this recording. Although the tempo tended to slow down later in his career, the basic structure and interpretation of the piece were the same as Mahler's No. 9 and Shostakovich's No. 15. The live performance in 2001, just before his retirement, which was released two years ago, was extremely slow, but there were many passages that showed his strong feeling for this piece. This 1963 recording retains the tone of the Konwitschny period, when the Gewandhaus Orchestra was at its peak, and the sound is profound, yet extremely controlled and well-balanced.Although it was already in the Neumann period after the death of Konwitschny, this is a masterful performance that perfectly combines Sanderling's confidence and the orchestra's high capacity. The only other Bruckner recordings by Sanderling are No. 4 and No. 7, which are currently scarce. In addition to No. 3, the only Bruckner recordings currently available are No. 4 and No. 7, and there are few other Bruckner recordings. I would like to hear other Bruckner interpretations in the future. The original analog master tapes were mastered in the analog domain only, and then newly digitized, but the sound quality of this recording of No. 3 is a little lower in resolution than other recordings of the same period. Although Berlin Classics is very careful when it comes to tape storage, it cannot be denied that some of the tapes have aged. It is also possible that there were some original limitations in the recording process, but we would like to inform you that this is the best reissue in the current state of the art.For this reissue, the master tapes were flown from the label to Vienna-based mastering engineer Christoph Stickel's studio, mastered in the analog domain, and then digitized using separate systems for DSD for the SACD layer and PCM for the CD layer. The project was then digitized into a product. This project realized the ideal method of mastering as far as currently conceivable. The effect is remarkable: it is now possible to reproduce the quality that was left on the master tape with extreme fidelity, and the mastering and direct DSD conversion in the analog domain only has even greater sonic benefits. The result is a performance that is so clear and resolved compared to the previous version that further appreciation of the performance can be expected. The manual also includes a photograph of the outer box of the original analog master tape used in this project.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Berlin Classics × TOWER RECORDS","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":45467048444193,"sku":"885470017785","price":175.0,"currency_code":"MOP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/products\/885470017785.jpg?v=1686981917","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-mo\/products\/885470017785","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
