Bruckner's Symphony No. 1 was started in January 1865, completed on April 14, 1866, and premiered in Linz in 1868 under his own direction. In 1891, he completed the so-called \"Wiener Draft\" for Hans Richter, who wanted to premiere the work in Vienna. For this CD, the Linz manuscript is selected. It is a little rougher than the Wiener manuscript and sounds more adventurous, but the popularity of the Linz manuscript, which already shows the characteristics of Bruckner's symphonies, such as very closely woven polyphony, has been increasing in recent years. Zweden has recreated the Bruckner sound beautifully, resonating each element with great care.
