Later, with Shostakovich's approval, Kubatsky made an arrangement for viola. Other composers who have made arrangements for viola include Evgeny Strakov and Annette Bartholdi. In this recording, I have tried to be as faithful as possible to the original cello version, although I have raised some passages an octave to accommodate the viola's range. The next recording, \"Improvisation,\" is a short but charming piece discovered in 2017. The last piece, \"Viola Sonata,\" is one of the most important pillars of the viola repertoire and Shostakovich's last and most profound music.
