Since the 80's, he has provided music to many artists across genres and countries such as THE NOLANS, CHER, Lucio Battisti, etc. He was fully involved in Mike Oldfield's 1996 album "VOYAGER" as an arranger, was the music director for the opening ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012, and was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2010. He was also the musical director for the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, and was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2010. Robin Smith is a British musician, composer, arranger, producer, and composer/arranger/producer. This album is a tribute to Mike from a different direction from "TUBULAR BELLS - REIMAGINED" (2010), in which he re-presented the famous "Tubular Bells" with his unique arrangement. The cover is a piano solo without extra embellishments, just the melody.By taking a step away from the arrangement/sound-making that tends to be the focus of Mike's musical career, which spans trad, pop, house/trance and contemporary music, and letting himself be carried away by the beautiful melodies of his unique digestion of British folk and classical influences, Mike Oldfield's greatness as a composer is once again reaffirmed. This work reaffirms Mike Oldfield's greatness as a composer!
