The album features flute performances of works written between 1840 and 1860 by Schumann and his wife, Mendelssohn, and their sisters. Despite the popularity of the flute at that time, there was not much chamber music written for the flute. The album includes Robert Schumann's "Three Romances, Op. 94," originally written for oboe and arranged by Jean-Pierre Rampal in 1950, which has since become an important part of the flute player's repertoire. These songs and other works for other instruments are presented in Payu's luscious and impressive tone, which, along with its romanticism, has a pale, original and exquisite expressiveness played from the weakest notes. As he has said, "I would rather pursue precision than enlarge the mosaic," and the music itself, as depicted by Payu, is scattered throughout this album.Only imports handled by Warner Music Japan, with Japanese-language commentary and obi, Japanese-language commentary includes a Japanese translation of the work commentary by Denis Verst, president of the Rampal Society, and a newly written commentary by Kazumasa Kiba Warner Music Japan

Tracklisting:

1.3 Romances, Op. 94~No. 1 Nicht schnell
2.3 Romances, Op. 94~No. 2 Einfach, innig
3.3 Romances, Op. 94~No. 3 Nicht schnell
4.3 Romances, Op. 22~No. 1 Andante molto
5.3 Romances, Op. 22~No. 2 Allegretto.
