APR presents a collection of recordings by Scottish pianist Frederick Lamond (1868-1948), a direct disciple of Franz Liszt and one of the most famous Beethoven players of his time, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of his birth! He studied piano under Hans von Bülow and Franz Liszt in Germany, and was active throughout Europe as the leading Beethoven player of the generation before Schnabel, and as a Liszt player directly descended from his teacher. This reissue of all of the studio electric recordings made after 1925 and the acoustic recordings of Liszt that have survived will be treasured as a valuable legacy of the Scottish pianist's virtuosity and achievements for our time.
