In doing so, he popularized the works of Mozart and Donizetti and demonstrated his own superb technique and talent as a composer. These works, which emphasize musical expression over narrative, seem to have been an important source of income for him throughout his life. The \"Reminiscences of Lucrezia Borgia,\" based on an opera by Donizetti, was first published in 1840, and in 1848 Liszt himself made extensive revisions to the work. Around 1880, Giuseppe Buonamici, with Liszt's permission, simplified the structure and created a more complete version without redundancy (this recording is based on that version). The Fantasy on a Theme from Mozart's \"The Marriage of Figaro\" was originally conceived as a fantasy using themes from both \"Figaro\" and \"Don Giovanni,\" but was never completed and the autograph score was left incomplete.Ferruccio Busoni, a great admirer of Liszt, arranged only the \"Figaro\" part, omitting the \"Don Giovanni\" element, and published it in 1912. The \"Waltz-Caprice with Motifs of Lucia and Parigina\" combines themes from two of Donizetti's operas in one piece; in the 1842 first edition, each theme is presented in a different key, later in the same key of A major and combined as a duet, with an energetic coda in which Liszt's own theme is added. The energetic coda, to which Liszt's own theme is added, concludes with a flourish. The later version (recorded on 8.570137) was slightly shortened, but the first version is performed here. The \"Recollection of Don Giovanni\" is a highly technical and dramatic work composed in 1841. Several scenes from Mozart's opera are skillfully quoted, including the cemetery scene, the double chorus of \"Please take my hand\" and its variations, and the gorgeous \"drinking song,\" combining the story of the opera with Liszt's unique virtuosity.\n\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Naxos","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51443729858849,"sku":"4945604746670","price":147.0,"currency_code":"MOP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4945604746670.jpg?v=1751380704","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-mo\/products\/4945604746670","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
