He made a significant contribution to the world of music as a professor at the Leipzig Conservatory and conductor of the Gewandhaus Orchestra.There are three numbered symphonies, and the second symphony here was inspired by the tragedy \"Hakon Yar\" by Danish writer Adam Ehrenschlager. The four overtures and the \"Dance under the Village Lime Tree\" for the Gewandhaus Orchestra are of the same type.
