The duo has made a career out of improvisation. As with their previous eight albums, the album is full of creativity and surprises.\n\nFujii and Tamura's duo performance has been described as telepathic. It goes without saying that there is a mutual trust and a curiosity that inspires each other. The two play with serenity, clash with a roaring sound, and engage in a unique dialogue of witticisms, sometimes in harmony with elegance and fluidity, creating music. At the same time, however, what is surprising is the total story of the music.The performance is a series of seemingly intangible improvisations, but Fujii's unparalleled talent for composition leads the audience to believe that there is a piece of music, and that it is a large swell of music that tells a story.\n\nI like compositions that play like improvised music, and improvised music that sounds like composed music,\" says Fujii, \"and I want to erase the boundaries between the two.\" The maturity that 30 years of experience has brought to her playing and her ability to keep it fresh never ceases to intrigue me.\n\nThe recording was made by Mike Marciano at the Samurai Hotel in NYC, a studio with a wonderful Steinway (Model D).
