This recording of Nielsen's complete symphonies is one of the milestones he set during his tenure as principal conductor of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra (2006-2014). Pavo's interpretation is a joy to listen to, with its sharp rhythmic handling, cool lyricism, and masculine dynamism with a symphonic sense of structure. The Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra's functional and powerful bottom line, which is typical of German broadcast orchestras, is also worth listening to. Only No. 5 was previously recorded with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, but the other five pieces are Pavo's first recordings. This is the birth of a masterful performance that goes beyond the anniversary year and aims for the future.
