Born in North Carolina in 1979, Fastman moved to California in the 2000s and began his solo career. He won the 2001 LA Music Award and made his major label debut in 2003 with the album The War of Women on Atlantic Records. The album received high praise, and he served as O.A. (Opening Act) for artists like Sheryl Crow and Willie Nelson. Starting in 2005, he became the house band leader for NBC's TV show 'Last Call with Carson Daly'.Members included Kamasi Washington and Thundercat. After the show ended in 2009, he focused on solo work, releasing albums like 2010's 'El Porto' and 2014's 'Love Bravely'. Concurrently, he formed Cordovas with Luca Soria and others in 2011, releasing their debut album 'Cordovas'.
