He studied oboe under Akira Hamamichi and composition under Reiko Arima. He is currently active as a composer and arranger for wind bands and orchestras. He also performs with Ensemble Poire, which combines music with performance art and comedy. His awards include the 1999 Asahi Composition Award, the 2003 Shitaya Composition Award, the 2007 Shitaya Encouragement Award, and the 2010 Japan Society for Wind and Percussion Music Academy Award in the Composition category. Her sheet music is published and distributed by various publishers, and numerous CDs of her compositions are available for purchase.
