The Luzon de Ténébre (meaning \"reading in the dark\") is a Christian service held at dawn on the three days from Holy Thursday to Holy Saturday, which includes Good Friday, the day of the Passion. Each day includes three readings (lusons) of a text based on the Lamentations of Jeremiah. The word \"tenebrous,\" meaning \"dark,\" comes from the fact that the candles are extinguished one by one during this service as the readings proceed. The accompanying music is also very important, as this is a service that remembers the Passion, which is of particular importance to Christianity. The music was composed extensively during the reign of Louis XIV (Sun King) (1638-1715), and the Luzon de Ténébre even became a social event. The motet \"Lord, save us\" was recorded for the first time in the world.
